Why Linux sucks (as a desktop OS):

Take a quick look at the Linux article in the link above. Don't bother reading the whole thing because it'll probably just confuse you unless you've used Linux for years or have an inherent understanding of programming, APIs, and kernel-mode drivers.

I like Linux (for the most part) and used it as my primary operating system for a few years. However, after taking a look at that article, I was reminded why I stopped using it.

Why would a 10 page article need to be written for something as simple as sound? I repeat: SOUND! Little blippy blips for my space invaders game or maybe the output of an MP3 file. This is something that has been done fairly painless since Windows 3.1! It's 2007, going on 2008; not 1993. I shouldn't have to worry about sound libraries, IRQs, DMAs, daemons, APIs, and the like.

Oh, I almost forgot. I shouldn't have to compile and make sure I have the proper libraries, worry about what core or SSE extensions my processor has, or even have to touch the command line to be able to install and run a new program.

Please Linux, try to catch up with the rest of the world. OSX is a fine example of what can be done with a UNIX based operating system. Maybe you can learn something from it?
